LINCOLN, NEBR. – The Nebraska Recycling Council (NRC) held its Annual Conference on Tuesday, September 19th. This event recognizes the accomplishments of member organizations and provides learning and networking opportunities for resource management professionals.
Rachel Bookman with the Institute of Scrap Recycling discussed how to use common language to communicate the value of the recycled materials industry. Attendees learned just how much the average individual depends on the essential work of recycling professionals. The luncheon inspired everyone to use plainspoken, positive, and personal language when interacting with the public. The conference also featured four breakout sessions related to recycling accessibility, legislation, compost & biochar, and how to manage hard to recycle materials. Vendors in attendance included ReUnite, Lincoln Goodwill, Lincoln Transportation and Utilities, Lincoln Earth Day, Natural Resource Conservation Service, First Star Recycling, Nebraska Safety Council, and Nebraska Composting Council.
The 2023 award winners are:

· Green Team of the Year- City of Kearney
· Advocacy Champion of the Year- Dale Gubbels
· Commonwealth Award- Nebraska Innovation Campus
· Member of the Year- Central Community College
