Earth Day celebrations will take place throughout much of April, and we found some of the most fun, educational, and eco-friendly activities happening in all corners of our great state.


Earth Week @ CCC Campuses | April 19th – 28th | Grand Island, Kearney, Columbus & Hastings
From a pollinator garden tour and vermicomposting workshops to “talon talks” with live raptors and a featured presentation by author Hunter Lovins, Central Community College campuses are hosting more than a dozen activities for Earth Week 2018.


National Park sites and parks offer free admission on Earth Day, providing a great opportunity to visit a new place or an old favorite. Catch a beautiful sunset on Earth Day at this state landmark.


Before the Flood at the Majestic Theatre | April 22nd @ 6:30pm | Wayne
The Wayne Green Team is hosting a free screening of this powerful documentary about the dramatic changes occurring around the world due to climate change. Check out the other Green Team events in April.


Cleaning the Fork 2018! | April 21st @ 8:30am – 1pm | Norfolk
North Fork Outfitting is sponsoring a citywide cleanup and community picnic with live music and family fun.


Omaha Spring Cleanup | Every Saturday from April 14 – May 19 | Omaha Neighborhoods
These free collection events provide residents the opportunity to recycle or dispose of large/bulky items that are not accepted through curbside trash and recycling services (such as old furniture, appliances, tires, and mattresses).


Science Fest! @ Riverside Discovery Center | April 21st @ 10am | Scottsbluff
A full day of crafts, science experiments, activities, and animal encounters will be had at this unique, inspiring zoo and discovery center.


Earth Day Omaha | April 21st @ 11am – 6pm | Elmwood Park in Omaha
Nebraska’s largest Earth Day event provides tons of interactive fun for the kids, dozens of workshops, and demonstrations, live music, and is featuring Joel Sartore, National Geographic Wildlife Photographer.


Lincoln Earth Day | April 28th @ 10am – 3pm | Union Plaza in Lincoln
Lincoln’s Earth Day celebration packs the day with musical performances, hands-on demonstrations, food trucks, green vehicles and more. And of course, NRC’s very own Earth Day collection event will happen up the way at the Nebraska Innovation Campus starting at 9am.
