The Nebraska Recycling Council is celebrating Earth Day in Lincoln by holding a CHaRM Event (Collection for Hard to Recycle Materials) at Nebraska Innovation Campus on Saturday, April 27th from 9 a.m. to Noon. Cars will enter from Salt Creek Roadway at the far east entrance close to the 27th Street overpass.

Materials accepted are electronics, including computer monitors (CRT and flat screen), computer equipment, phones, scrap metal items, including washers and dryers, recyclable (only) batteries, usable clothing, shoes, household goods, tools, toys, and personal documents for shredding. A fee will be charged for TVs of all sizes. See below for a full list of materials accepted and prohibited.

The CHaRM Event is sponsored by Valmont Industries, Sadoff E-Recycling and Data Destruction, Goodwill of Lincoln, Interstate All Battery, and Security Shredding Solutions. Nebraska Innovation Campus and Tetrad Property Group are hosting the event and Allo Communications is providing volunteers to unload cars.

The Nebraska Recycling Council is asking for a free-will donation of $10 to offset costs, and participants will receive a wooden nickel from The Mill Coffee & Bistro for free coffee. NRC’s goal is to exceed the 13,260 pounds collected in 2018 by 25% to 17,680 lbs. Bring your stuff, support the NRC, protect the planet, and reward yourself afterward with coffee from The Mill.
