As part of a city-wide effort to keep waste from going to the landfill, the City of Lincoln’s Recycling Office has awarded a number of local organizations with certification of their high levels of recycling and/or composting.
Three businesses have achieved the Zero Waste level — Carson+Co Global, Lincoln Running Company and The Printer.
The City has also awarded eleven Gold-level designations — Arbor Day Foundation; Assurity Life Insurance; Embassy Suites by Hilton; Gamma Phi Beta; Goodwill Industries; HBE; House of Flowers; NeighborWorks Lincoln; Region V Systems; Star City Heating & Cooling; and Zipline Brewing.
The program has four leadership levels depending on the percentage of their waste that they recycle or compost:
- Bronze – 20 to 39 percent
- Silver – 40 to 59 percent
- Gold – 60 to 89 percent
- Zero Waste – 90 percent or more
